ARTISTS BIO
Maite Martin is a native, born and bred New Yorker circa. 1999. She grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant, spending most of her childhood in Brooklyn and occasionally in Manhattan. Maite has been acting in theater/film and writing comedy since 2015. Her first theater performance was part of a theatre troupe in the Upper West Side which she joined in high school. In 2017, Maite had her Off-Off Broadway debut at the New Ohio Theatre in the production Ski End that had a successful three-week run with a full house every night. The production even made it to the New York Times!
In 2019, Maite performed in yet another Off-Off Broadway performance Malefic Wonder on the night of Halloween, reciting twelve different monologues for a one night only performance. This was the last time she’s done a play since the pandemic, and hopes to get back on stage soon. Instead of getting discouraged that being in a theater program coincidentally did not align with her being in a production even though she made every effort to be part of a play, Maite began taking writing and comedy more seriously which led to her start in doing sketch comedy, which birthed her web-series The Unprofessional. She was also part of the improv team Dysfunctional Date for a year in 2023. Maite would like to let every artist know that if you have the gift of writing, expand on that and let it mix with performance. Waiting for the right people to recognize you will have you waiting forever. Maite is a firm believer in never allowing anyone to dim your light.
Off-stage and off-camera, Maite holds an Associates Degree in Theater from Laguardia Community College and a Bachelors Degree in Film Production from Brooklyn College. She has interned at the Gene Frankel Theatre, and currently works at HB Studio. She has worked as a production assistant, boom operator, assistant director and editor on student film sets.
Maite’s hobbies include going to art museums, attending live music events, live theater and gallery openings, astrology and tarot, discovering old classic movies, indie films, shadow boxing and swimming.
